Sometimes you just need to freshen up your act. You would like to be more up to date even if the old monologue works for most situations. There are some great books to find your monologue in that may be outside the scope of traditional suggestions. Acting coaches and seminars also offer some places to find some that may work for you. It is important to take some time to research and find a couple that really work for you and not just a fit for most people. It is really fun when you find one that really suits you. Please feel free to submit your ideas and videos.  Show us how they are working for you.

Great for Monologues which are not easy to find

10 Elements of Great Audition Monologues - Part II August 6, 2011, Gabriel Davis - The 10 Elements were created as a way to boil down lessons in playwriting learned over the course of several years -- and several volumes of books on the subject -- into a short essential list. I taught these 10 Elements to students as part of the nationally recognized Joanne Woodward Apprentice Program at the Westport Country Playhouse. The material they wrote using these Elements was consistently surprising, entertaining, and enjoyable. I owe a great deal to my mentors playwright Milan Stitt and director/novelist Kathleen George in helping to shape my thinking on these elements. I am pleased to pass these on to you and I hope you, in turn, will pass them on.

A Day in the Life of an Actor

It is extremely hot outside in many locations and the thought of going to another casting call or audition is a bit tiring. You have to now decide if this is really a path you want to take for yourself, either part-time or full-time. What is your level of commitment? Are you making it to your classes each week?  Are you practicing at home for the skills that will get you through an audition or to the next level if you succeed past the audition?  How prepared are you? Are your photos up to date? How about your resume? What can you say about yourself?  What opportunities have you taken for yourself that could keep you up to date and in practice? There are lots of opportunities available as either an assistant, second chair or position, or even volunteer opportunities. The business does cost money as well unless you are really lucky and there are a few really lucky people. The cost of understanding the business is not free and it is competitive. Nobody wants to give...
